Trailer Interchange

Running as power only in the trucking community is an extremely common practice. This is when you, as the trucker, only operate your truck and haul someone else’s trailer from point A to point B. While your auto liability will cover you for 3rd party damages for a non-owned trailer, there are additional coverages available to cover the actual damage that a non-owned trailer may accrue.

Non-owned trailer physical damage covers damage to a non-owned unit while it is physically attached to your truck. For coverage to apply the trailer must be attached to the power unit in the event of an incident.

Trailer interchange coverage covers damage to a non-owned unit while it is in your possession, regardless of if it is physically attached to the power unit at the time. Trailer interchange requires a written agreement between yourself and the owner of the trailer for coverage to apply.
